However, here's some news that will satisfy the desire of fans who have dreamt of watching the duo sharing screen space on the big screen. Thirty three years after its initial release (in 1979), Ninaithale Inikkum, the romantic musical that starred the Ulaganayagan and the Superstar, is all set to be re-released across the state with in a new avatar with cinemascope and stereo sound. Plans are on to enhance the original negative and give it a grading and convert it into the latest digital format.
The film, directed by K Balachander (who is mentor to both the actors), is about the romance between the lead singer of a musical troupe and a mysterious woman (played by Jayaprada) he meets during their tour of Singapore. While the Superstar's role was technically a supporting character, it was also one which showcased his effortless comic timing.
Given the tremendous response that the restored version of Sivaji Ganesan's Karnan received from audiences recently, one can safely bet that this effort too would be met with a warm welcome.
