Below the belt attacks mark campaign

Hyderabad : Campaign for the by-elections to Nellore Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly constituencies is coming to close on Sunday evening. Most nauseatingly, campaign was mostly focused on below the belt and unethical personal attacks by all the political parties on their opponents.Congress party should have explained what it had done to the people since 2004 to ask votes. TDP should have said what Congress has not done. YSR Congress should have told the people what it would do if voted to power now or later.None have done this. There were mean allegations by all star campaigners. Both Congress and TDP have concentrated on the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and opposition leader Chandra Babu Naidu have sat in judgment and even decided prison term Jagan would be facing even before courts found him guilty. Congress Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi and minister Dharmana Prasada Rao were issued notices by the Election Commission for making communal remarks. The Chief Minister was issued notices for asking people to cast ten votes each and making comments over religious sanctity of Tirupati. 

Political parties left nothing to chance and concentrated on defaming their opponents through all means. The language used by leaders of all parties made the worst gangsters bow their heads in shame.The fact that Jagan was targeted by all the parties showed his strength. Congress and TDP which usually target each other had concentrated on showering abuses on Jagan. Both parties declared that YSR Congress was their main rival and the other would be in third place. 

It was when the poll campaign was in high pitch that Jagan was arrested. This has stunned every one. Chandrababu even said that Congress which came to the conclusion that it cannot win the elections, got Jagan jailed so that he would win.In western countries, one who is arrested is generally looked down. In India it is not the case. DMK MP and party supremo M Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi received a rousing welcome when she was released on bail after arrest on economic offences. She is being treated as the modern version of Jhansi Raji by the DMK cadres. Former union minister A Raja also received tumultuous welcome when he was recently granted bail and permitted to visit Chennai. 

This is the Indian mentality. They sympathize even with a criminal if he is put behind bars. Poor people in this country are used to police foisting false cases against them at the behest of the rich. This is the reason why they do not believe police charges and arrests. This is also the reason why there was ground swell of sympathy for Jagan after his arrest. It was alleged that even he has realized that it would be better for him in jail, allowing his mother and sister to campaign, so that the party would have the benefit of public sympathy. Jagan is charged of rejecting interim bail for poll campaign.How this bane campaign by all the parties would deliver results would be known in a few days. However, the common people are sad that their leaders instead of showing them a glorious path to follow, had proved that they could stoop to any level to trounce their opponents.

'నిజాలు చెబుతున్నందునే వాన పడుతోంది' అని కేసీఆర్ వ్యాఖ్యానించారు. వర్షం జోరు పెరగడంతో కేసీఆర్ తన ప్రసంగాన్ని త్వరగా ముగించారు.

According to sources from Chennai, it is heard that the Tamil actor Karthi has fallen in love with Samantha. Well, Karthi reportedly feels that if Samantha becomes his leading lady then his film will no doubt score a bumper hit. For this, he is reportedly pressurizing the producers to rope her at any ‘cost’.

Karthi was better known as the brother of Suriya during the early days of his career but in no time he managed to come out of that and has been scoring consistent hits. But given his fixation for Samantha, the Kollywood folks are unable to figure out the logic. What remains to be seen is whether Samantha will oblige or not.

Cong Uses YSR Weapon As A Last Resort

The Congress party has taken out its final weapon to appease the electorate in the Seemandhra region. And the weapon was successfully used by former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy during the 2009 assembly elections.

The weapon is: Telangana statehood issue. During the 2009 elections, YSR suddenly changed his stand during the second phase of polling and told the electorate in Rayalaseema that if the Congress was not voted to power in the state again, then the people of Seemandhra might have to take visa to enter Telangana region, particularly Hyderabad. In a way, he blackmailed the people of Seemandhra on the bifurcation of the state.

The same weapon is now being used by the Congress leaders in Seemandhra as a last ditch effort to win a few seats in the region. Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal has been campaigning in the coastal Andhra that if the people voted for the Congress, he would ensure that the government adopts a resolution in the assembly stating that the state would remain united and there is no question of agreeing for Telangana. In a way, he is threatening that if the Congress does not get good number of seats in the by-elections, there is going to be a certain division of the state.

Let us see how far this weapons will be of any use to the Congress party.

Will Jagan Get Bail At Least Now?

The Central Bureau of Investigation successfully managed to keep YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in jail till Sunday and prevent him from campaigning in the by-election.

Now that the campaigning came to a close on Sunday, it is now being curiously watched whether Jagan would be able to get bail at least now.

The CBI custody of Jagan has ended and so is his 14-day judicial remand.  He will have to be produced before the CBI court on Monday and he will get an opportunity to move the bail petition again.

In the normal conditions, the court should not have any objection to grant bail to Jagan, unless it decides to extend the judicial remand for another two weeks on the pretext of gravity of the case, as was done in the case of former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana. So, the chances of Jagan getting the bail are very bleak.

In case, Jagan comes out of the jail on bail, it will be a morale booster for his party cadres at the time of announcement of results of by-elections. There will be huge victory celebrations and Jagan is bound to initiate steps to split the Congress party and bring it down.

YSR Statues Veiled Near Polling Booths

With the election campaign in 18 assembly constituencies and Nellore parliamentary constituency coming to an end by Sunday evening, the Election Commission has ordered that all the statues of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy located about 200 km from polling stations be covered with cloth.

This move has been apparently taken to ensure that voters would not get influenced by YSR image while exercising their franchise. Particularly in Kadapa district, there are large number of YSR statues and EC authorities felt there is every possibility that the voters get influenced by his image and vote for YSR Congress party in the by-elections.

One does not know whether the same rule has been applied for the statues of former CM N T Rama Rao, but it looks silly to assume that the voters are influenced by YSR statues. They have made up their mind firmly as to whom they should vote for. If they want to vote for YSR Congress party, the veiling of YSR statues would not make any difference; similarly, if they want to vote for the TDP, they would not get influenced by YSR statue. After all, one cannot cover or erase the image the voters have in their hearts!

IIT engineer arrested for sending threat mail to PM

 


An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) engineer has been arrested for sending a threat mail to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P. Chidambaram, police said Sunday.Anurag Kashyap was arrested Saturday from Hazaribagh district in Jharkhand."Anurag has been arrested for sending a threat mail, he send the mail by creating an account in name of his neighbour Manish Sharma," a police official told IANS over phone.The engineer wanted to get his neighbour Manish implicated in a false case, the official added.

According to police, the e-mail was sent to the mail id of Delhi police commissioner June 2. Sent in name of Baidaihi Sharma, a resident of Aryana colony of Hazaribagh, the mailer said he was the brother of dead CCL employee Ramesh Sharma.The mail threatened the prime minister and home minister if Ramesh's retirement benefits were not given to family members, police said.On interrogating the Sharma family, the police discovered that none of the family members were working in CCL.Police arrested the cyber cafe owner Adib Hasan June 7.The IIT Kharagpur engineer has worked for five years in US and Mumbai.

Kiran Bedi compares PM to Dhritarashtra

 

New Delhi : Team Anna member Kiran Bedi Sunday compared Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the blind king Dhritarashtra of the Mahabharata epic, saying he is aiding corruption in the government. The Congress hit back, saying Team Anna had converted the movement against corruption into "a personal campaign and personal ambition".Continuing the attack on the prime minister over irregularities in coal blocks allocation, Bedi tweeted: "PMO clears PM. Did Dhritrashtra in Mahabharat not support Kauravas even after they attempted to disrobe Draupadi? Indian genes/culture? or? (sic)."

"Do or die fast from July 25 for SIT (special investigation team) probe on PM plus 14 cabinet ministers. Tainted team may never give us an expeditious and strong criminal justice system," she said.According to Bedi, Team Anna was focused on the Congress party as it alone can give through parliament an effective anti-corruption law and not the opposition.Her comments came after the Prime Minister's Office turned down Team Anna's demand for a special team to probe charges against cabinet ministers for alleged irregularities in coal blocks allocation.

Reacting to her remarks, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, said: "There are many questions they (Team Anna) must first answer. I don't think they have a right to ask questions... I don't think they are being very helpful or good to the democracy in our country."  "We all felt that they started off with a good idea - the idea of containing corruption or questioning corruption. But now they are doing greatest disservice to this idea by converting it into a personal campaign and personal ambition," he said.Khurshid added the country would give them a suitable answer at an appropriate time.

"They (Team Anna) never ask for probe against themselves. We are at least subject to public scrutiny every five years when we go to election... We are ready for any public scrutiny," he said."..Every time an honest question is asked about their activities... They start screaming or shouting," he added.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that Team Anna has "its own way of saying things but the truth is that the prime minister has failed to check corruption in the government"."The prime minister is responsible for checking corruption but he has failed to give a corruption free government," said BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain.

Kola Knows Naidu's Swiss Bank Account!

The sudden appearance of Kola Krishna Mohan, the Euro lottery scamster of 1999, before the media on Saturday and the massive coverage he had got in Sakshi channel and the daily belonging to YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, has raised many eyebrows.

Krishna Mohan’s revelations against Naidu’s Swiss bank accounts along with the cash balances in them surprised everybody, particularly those who are aware of how the banks in Switzerland operate and maintain secrecy about their clients’ accounts. Even the clients do not reveal their accounts to anybody. So, one gets the doubt whether Naidu had given his Swiss Bank account numbers to Krishna Mohan and asked him to transfer the amount to those accounts. And being a shrewd politician, Naidu would not make such a silly mistake of revealing his bank account to a fraudster.

Even the banks in Singapore would not reveal the bank transactions to any outsider. So, the chance of Krishna Mohan getting to know about Naidu’s bank balances of Rs 15,000 crore, even if the latter really has the amount. The Wikileaks, too, had to struggle a lot to find out the bank accounts of some people, which came out only through the leak from the bank staff.

Morover, Krishna Mohan went on to claim that he had given Rs 25 lakh to Lokesh Naidu and that he had eloped with a girl, which sounds silly and stupid. It is pretty clear that Krishna Mohan held the press conference either at the behest of somebody or to claim some cheap publicity at the time of by-elections.

Nobody would say Naidu is a paragon of virtue or non-corrupt. It is an open secret that Naidu was and is corrupt, but it is hard to believe that he is so foolish to tell anybody to transfer the bribe to his Swiss Bank account.

Is This Big Hero's Sadistic Viswaroopam?

The element of intelligence always comes with a streak of eccentricity and sometimes the eccentricity goes to the extreme and in Telugu slang it is called ‘Pichchi Peaks’. Now, few reactions have been coming from various sections of audience after watching the trailer of the film ‘Viswaroopam’.

This magnum opus happens to be the ambitious project of Kamal Haasan and it is made as a trilingual. And those who saw the teaser felt like it was a male version of the Hindi movie ‘Taal’. For now, it is heard that Kamal would be seen essaying the role of a Taliban terrorist and the film is slated to be a terrorism based flick.

In the past, Kamal showed his sadism through films like ‘Abhay’ ‘Guna’  ‘Manmadha Baanam’ etc. There is no doubt that he is a fantastic performer but how good is he a storyteller and how well can he catch the pulse of the audience is something of a doubt. Let us wish ‘Viswaroopam’ is not Kamal’s sadistic ‘Viswaroopam’.

As the campaigning for the by-elections to 18 assembly seats and Nellore Lok Sabha seat in the state is coming to an end, the fortunes of major political parties are said to be fluctuating rapidly.

During the initial days of campaigning, the political pundits predicted that the Telugu Desam Party would win at least two to three seats, while the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi would win one seat each and the remaining seats would be bagged by the YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. It was predicted that the TDP would win Tirupati, Prathipadu and even Payakaraopet seats and stand second in at least half a dozen seats, while the Congress would win Narsapuram seat.

But as the campaigning progressed, there appears to be rapid changes in the equations. While the Congress party is said to have improved its position considerably, the TDP has taken the back seat in several constituencies.

The latest position, according political observers, is that the Congress would a couple of seats, while the TDP might draw a blank and the TRS would win the Parkal seat. 

The TDP might end up losing deposit in at least 10 constituencies, while the Jagan party would win not less than 15 seats.  The Congress is trying hard to get its tally increased by another two or three seats.

Facebook camera app vs Instagram

Facebook's new camera app makes sharing photos on the social media site a breeze.

NEW YORK: Facebook's new camera appmakes sharing photos on the social media site a breeze. It's an improvement on posting photos using its main mobile app.

But other camera apps such as Instagram and Hipstamatic still reign supreme. Facebook Camera doesn't have the same level of addictiveness or the range of tools for sprucing up images.

Many people were perplexed when Facebook released its own camera app late last month, just weeks after snapping up the popular Instagram photo-sharing app for $1 billion.

The two apps, both free, have some similar features. Both have a scrollable feed of photos posted by your friends and other people you choose to follow. They also have a set of tools, or filters, which let you adjust contrast, color and other attributes.

But they are different enough that Facebook's camera app is more of a complement to the main Facebook app than a challenge to Instagram. Facebook's camera app is only available for Appledevices, while Instagram recently came out with a version that works on Android phones and tablet computers.

The app is easy to use with intuitive taps and swipes.

When you open it, you see a scroll of your friend's photos - the ones you would see if you clicked the photo tab in the Facebook app or on Facebook's website for regular computers. Tap on a photo to see a larger version, optimized on your phone.

Above that is a bar that shows you the most recent pictures in your device's camera library - all the photos you have stored on the iPhone or iPad. You can swipe down the feed of your friends' Facebook photos to see more of your own pictures, which you can then choose to post on Facebook.

You can comment, tag and 'like' photos, just as you can with the main app or website. You simply tap icons that hover over the photos. Change your mind? Just swipe away the comment box, and it disappears.

It is kind of a shock to suddenly see your whole photo library within a Facebook app. Before I got comfortable with the navigation, I was slightly paranoid I would accidently post a photo on Facebook without meaning to. But once I got used to the easy navigation within the app, that was less of a worry.

Once you select a photo from your library (or take one within the app by tapping the camera icon), Facebook Camera gives you much better editing options than the main site or app. You can crop the photo to any dimension, or straighten it slightly - something I almost always need to do. You can tweak images with 14 filters that have such names as "Cool" "Light" and "Rouge."

For people used to the dramatic filters of Instagram and the wacky lenses and film-like options of Hipstamatic, the filters on the Facebook Camera are underwhelming. They didn't make a dramatic difference on photos I used them on, and I doubt I would use them before using Facebook Camera to post a photo.

For those who like a lot of editing control, Facebook Camera lacks the full-featured photo-adjustment capabilities available in PhotoToaster or Snapseed (which is usually $4.99 in the app store but is free until Friday, so snap it up!).

But I was pleased with the ease with which I could post photos to Facebook with its camera app. I will probably use it whenever I post a photo to the site now. Unlike the regular app, Facebook Camera makes posting multiple photos easy as well, although there's no ability to create albums on Facebook without going to the main site.

Still, it's not going to replace Instagram for me. I follow an assortment of people on Instagram based solely on the quality of their photos, ranging from gorgeous landscapes to gritty street scenes. I'm always excited to check out new pics.

I friend people on Facebook for different reasons - and it's not because of the quality of their photos. As a result, the stream on the Facebook Camera app has a random feel.

It also has a bit of a dilutive quality when I check the main Facebook app at work (ahem, not that I ever do that) or at home. Since I've already seen most of the photos, the main Facebook news stream feels less "new."

So think of Facebook Camera less as competition for other camera apps, and more of a complement - like Facebook's other standalone apps, for messaging and for managing business brand pages - to the main Facebook site.

India to buy 8 warships from South Korea for Rs 6,000 crore

NEW DELHI: In tune with a growing 'strategic partnership' with South Korea, India is now getting all set to ink a major defence contract with the north-east Asian country for acquisition of eight advanced minesweeping and hunting warships.

Under the programme, which will be worth well over Rs 6,000 crore, India will get two of the mine counter-measures vessels (MCMVs) directly from South Korean firm Kangnam Corporation, while the other six will be manufactured by Goa Shipyard after transfer of technology. "The contract is now being finalized after the conclusion of the commercial negotiations," said a source.

India's need for advanced MCMVs that combine the role of traditional minesweepers and active mine-hunters to detect and destroy underwater mines is critical. Despite intelligence inputs holding that Indian harbours face the clear and present danger of underwater mines being planted by both state as well as non-state actors, the Navy's MCMV project has been hanging fire for several years now.

"Underwater mines are cheap weapons that can be used for high-impact incidents. It's relatively easy for someone to lay mines at the harbour approach or departure routes. There is need to step-up the protection of our harbours and offshore installations," said an official.

Made of composite material and high-grade steel to ensure 'minimal magnetivity', the new MCMVs will have high-definition sonars and acoustic and magnetic sweeps to first detect all kinds of marooned and drifting mines and then use remote-controlled systems like small underwater vehicles to then detonate them at safe distances.

Nothing less than life imprisonment for dowry deaths: Supreme Court

NEW DELHI: A sentence lesser than life termcannot be awarded to convicts for heinous offences like dowry death where the victim is killed in a brutal manner, the Supreme Court has ruled. 

A bench of justices Swatanter Kumar and Ranjan Gogoi rejected the plea of a victim's husband and brother-in-law for leniency on the ground that they are young, their mother was of advancing age and the incident occurred in 1996, hence a lenient view of the sentence should be taken.

"When the offence of Section 304B is proved, the manner in which the offence has been committed is found to be brutal, it had been committed for satisfaction of dowry demands, particularly, for material goods like television or cooler and furthermore the accused takes up a false defence before the court to claim that it was a case of an accidental death and not that of dowry death, then the court normally would not exercise its judicial discretion in favour of the accused by awarding lesser sentence than life imprisonment," Justice Kumar, writing the judgement, said.

The apex court upheld the life sentence imposed on Mukesh Bhatnagar (husband), Kailasho alias Kailashwati (mother-in-law) and Rajesh Bhatnagar for setting ablaze Renu to death on February 17, 1996 after she failed meet their dowry demands at Roorkee in Uttarkhand.

The bench also rejected the plea of Mukesh that Renu died after the cooking stove burst and he had sustained injuries while trying to rescue her.

"The arguments of the defence are strange because if the accused had attempted to save the deceased, then he would have suffered some burn injuries.

"But as per the above details of injuries, there was not even a single burn injury found on the body of the accused Mukesh," the bench said.

The St Paul's college, affiliated with the University of Sydney, had organised its yearly "upscale" dinner with an 'end of the British raj' theme, asking guests to come dressed in "white tie of colonial uniform" and served them Indian food.

College students, who arrived at St Paul's great hall dressed in immaculate black dinner suitswith matching white handkerchiefs, were met by a team of Indian and south Asian waiters, dressed in colourful traditional cultural garments, who served them Indian delicacies and curries, the Sydney Morning Herald reported today.

But within days of the event, ideological war broke out at the university over whether the college was basking in the glory of colonialism and slavery. Before long, vicious vitriol began ricocheting across Facebook, the report said.

"I am Indian and I used to go to college. My relatives suffered in colonial India. This theme offended me and brought me to the brink of tears," one female student wrote.

"Please, can you all come to our next party? It's Mexican themed, and we'll be celebrating all the abductions and beheadings you can poke a stick at," a student responded.

"I have this turban and - what luck! - it's just your size," another provoked.

"That's it, ban ALL the upscale parties!!" another wrote. Had it not been a letter to the student newspaper, Honi Soit, from an outraged arts student, Mason McCann, the white tie event may have gone unnoticed.

"I do not think the party was a celebration of Indian culture, it was a celebration of imperialism," McCann told The Sun-Herald.

"The party demonstrates a serious deep disconnect between the culture of St Paul's and the culture of the University of Sydney. I am deeply offended by it.

"They have a responsibility as a prestigious and old institution to project a positive public image to both the other students and the public, and I think that party succeeded in doing just the opposite of that."

In response to McCann's letter which was published in full, Hugo Rourke from St Paul's, who as senior student speaks on behalf of his peers, wrote to Honi Soit to justify the party. "It was a successful event, held in good taste and enjoyed by attendees and employees alike," he wrote, seemingly shocked that the event would cause such uproar.

The catering company for the event, Sodexo, was similarly taken aback by the suggestion their workers had been forced to don cultural garb.

Its state manager, Ram Devagiri, said his staff, who all have a south Asian backgrounds and work at the college full-time serving three meals a day, were having an "absolute ball" at the party and had become "annoyed" at the insinuation there were racial undertones at play.

Meanwhile, the Student Representative Council passed a motion condemning the themed party.

GUWAHATI: A Silchar-Guwahati Air India plane with 52 people on board landed under emergency conditions at the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoli International airport here today.

All the 48 passengers and four crew members in the plane were safe, Air India sources said.

The aircraft had developed some technical snag forcing it to land at the airport, the sources added.

With Team Anna member Kiran Bedi attacking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh once again, Khurshid said there are many questions which the anti-corruption crusaders also need to answer.

Hitting out at Team Anna, law minister said, "How come they never asked for a probe against themselves? We are at least subject to public scrutiny. We are willing for any public scrutiny. As you can see, the government has its own methods of keeping a check on what is happening in the country. But, I have not heard Team Anna ever having said we are willing for a probe."

He said the anti-coruption movement had started in the right direction but has now become personal.

"We all felt that they started off with a good idea, idea of containing corruption and questioning corruption was a good idea, but today they are doing the greatest disservice to this good idea by converting it into a personal campaign and a personal ambition. I will quite confidently say that the country will give them a suitable answer when the time comes," Khurshid said.

Earlier, Team Anna member Kiran Bedi invoked Mahabharata to attack Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the alleged irregularities in the coal block allocation.

"PMO clears Prime Minister. Did Dhritarashtra in Mahabharata not support Kauravas even after they attempted to disrobe Draupadi? Indian genes/culture? or?," Bedi tweeted.

She said Team Anna is focussed on the party in power at the Centre because it alone can give an effective central law not opposition.

Her remarks came after Prime Ministers Office wrote a letter to Anna Hazare rejecting their demands for setting up a Special Investigation Team to probe corruption allegations against Singh and his 14 Cabinet colleagues and setting up special fast-track courts for trying MPs accused of corruption.

Bedi had said yesterday that the letter to Hazare was "wishy-washy".

"PMO's letter to Anna ji on allegations made on PM and 14 ministers is absolutely wishy-washy," she had said.

After the PMO's letter, Team Anna has said it will go ahead with the indefinite fast from July 25 as planned.

మైనారిటీ సబ్ కోటాపై సుప్రీంకోర్టులో సవాల్ చేసిన కేంద్రం

ఐఐటీ వంటి కేంద్ర విద్యాసంస్థలు, ఉద్యోగాల్లో మైనారిటీలకు 4.5 శాతం రిజర్వేషన్‌ను కేటాయించడాన్ని కొట్టివేస్తూ ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ హైకోర్టు ఇచ్చిన తీర్పును కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం సుప్రీంకోర్టులో సవాల్ చేసింది. 27 శాతం ఓబీసీ కోటా పరిధిలో మైనార్టీలకు రిజర్వేషన్ విషయమై కేంద్రం స్పెషల్ లీవ్ పిటిషన్ దాఖలు చేసింది. కేంద్రం పిటీషన్‌ను విచారణకు స్వీకరించిన జస్టిస్ కేఎస్.రాధాకృష్ణన్, జస్టిస్ జేఎస్ ఖేహర్ ధర్మాసనం దీనిపై సోమవారం వాదనలను ఆలకించనుంది. 

విస్తృతమైన సర్వే నిర్వహించిన అనంతరం మైనార్టీలకు కోటా కల్పించాలని నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నామని, ఈ విషయంలో హైకోర్టు వెలువరించిన తీర్పు సబబు కాదని కేంద్రం తన పిటిషన్‌లో స్పష్టం చేసింది. కేంద్రం సాధారణ దృష్టితో 27 శాతం ఓబీసీ రిజర్వేషన్ పరిధిలో మైనార్టీలకు 4.5 శాతం సబ్ కోటా కల్పించిందని హైకోర్టు గత నెల 28న పేర్కొంది.

హైదరాబాద్: వైయస్సార్ కాంగ్రెసు పార్టీ అధ్యక్షుడు, కడప పార్లమెంటు సభ్యుడు వైయస్ జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డిని సిబిఐ అధికారులు ఆదివారం చంచల్‌గూడ జైలు నుండి తమ కస్టడీకి తీసుకున్నారు. ఉదయం పదిన్నర గంటల ప్రాంతంలో సిబిఐ అధికారులు జైలుకు వచ్చారు. జైలు నుండి కోఠిలోని సిబిఐ కార్యాలయం వరకు బందోబస్తు ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ఈ రోజుతో జగన్ సిబిఐ కస్టడీ ముగుస్తోంది. సిబిఐ కార్యాలయం వద్ద భారీ బందోబస్తు ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.

జగన్‌ను కోఠి సిబిఐ కార్యాలయానికి తరలించేందుకు పది వాహనాలతో కూడిన కాన్వాయ్‌ని సిబిఐ తీసుకు వచ్చింది. బుల్లెట్ ప్రూఫ్ వాహనంలో అతనిని తీసుకు వెళ్లారు. ఈ కాన్వాయ్‌లో ఎపిపిఎస్, ఆర్మ్‌డ్ రిజర్వ్ పోలీసులు, టాస్క్ ఫోర్సు పోలీసులు ఉన్నారు. జగన్ జైలు నుండి నవ్వుకుంటూ బయటకు వచ్చి అభివాదం చేసుకుంటూ వాహనం ఎక్కారు. సాయంత్రం ఐదు గంటల వరకు జగన్‌ను సిబిఐ అధికారులు ప్రశ్నించనున్నారు.

కాగా ఇంతకు ముందు ఐదు రోజుల పాటు సిబిఐ అధికారులు వైయస్ జగన్‌ను ప్రశ్నించారు. మరో రెండు రోజులు తమ కస్టడీకి కావాలని సిబిఐ కోర్టును కోరడంతో కోర్టు అనుమతించింది. దీంతో శనివారం ఆయనను ప్రశ్నించారు. ఆదివారం కస్టడీకి తీసుకున్నారు. వైయస్ జగన్‌ను సిబిఐ 27వ తేదీ సాయంత్రం అరెస్టు చేసి, 28వ తేదీన చంచల్‌గుడా జైలుకు తరలించింది. ఆ తర్వాత జగన్‌ను భారతి మే 29, 30, 31 తేదీల్లో జైలులో ములాఖత్‌లో కలిసారు. ఆ మరునాడు జూన్ 1న ఆమె జగన్‌ను కలవడానికి రాగా నిబంధనల ప్రకారం కుదరదని జైలు అధికారులు తిరస్కరించారు.

నాలుగురోజులు జగన్‌ను కోఠి సిబిఐ కార్యాలయంలో విచారించినపుడు జగన్‌ను కలవడానికి సిబిఐ అధికారులు ఎవరికీ అనుమతివ్వలేదు. శుక్రవారం ఉదయం భారతి జగన్‌ను కలిసి సుమారు నలభై నిమిషాలు మాట్లాడి వచ్చారు. అలాగే జైలులో సాధారణ ఖైదీలుగా వున్న కోనేరు ప్రసాద్‌ను ఆయన సన్నిహితుడు, ప్రముఖ సినీ నిర్మాత అశ్వనీదత్ శుక్రవారం ములాఖత్‌లో కలిశారు. విచారణ ఖైదీగా వున్న ఐఎఎస్ అధికారి బి.పి.ఆచార్యను ఆయన భార్య బి.పి.రంజన్ టక్కర్ ఆచార్య కలిసి వెళ్లారు.

కాబూల్‌ : ఆప్ఘనిస్తాన్‌ తూర్పు ప్రాంతంలో నాటో బలగాలపై తాలిబాన్లు జరిపిన దాడిలో నలుగురు ఫ్రెంచ్‌ సైనికులు మరణించారు. కపిస రాష్ట్రంలో ఈ దాడి జరిగిందని ఆప్ఘన్‌ అధికారులు తెలిపారు. ఆత్మాహుతి బాంబర్లలో ఒకరు ఈ దాడి చేశారని తాలిబాన్‌ ఉగ్రవాదులు తెలిపారు. ఆప్ఘనిస్తాన్‌ నుంచి మొత్తం నాటో బలగాలను ఉపసంహరించడానికి రెండేళ్ళ ముందే ఈ ఏడాది చివరకు ఫ్రాన్స్‌ తన బలగాలను తొలగించనున్న విషయం తెలిసిందే. ఇటీవల కొద్ది వారాలుగా ఆఫ్ఘనిస్తాన్‌ అంతటా హింస బాగా పెరిగిపోంది. ఇక్కడ తాలిబాన్లు ఆప్ఘన్‌ బలగాలతో పాటు దేశంలో ఉన్న 1,30,000 విదేశీ బలగాలను కూడా లక్ష్యంగా చేసుకుని దాడులు చేస్తున్నారు. పైన ముసుగేసి ఉన్న ఫ్రెంచ్‌ నాటో వాహనంపై తాలిబాన్లు శనివారం ఆత్మాహుతి దాడి జరిపారని ఆప్ఘన్‌ అధికారులు తెలిపారు. ఇక్కడ విదేశీ బలగాల్లో ఫ్రాన్స్‌ ఐదో అతి పెద్ద దేశంగా ఉంది. దాదాపుగా 3,300 మంది ఫ్రెంచ్‌ సైనికులు ఆప్ఘనిస్తాన్‌లో ఉన్నారు. తాజా మరణాలతో 2001 నుంచి ఈ దేశంలో మరణించిన మొత్తం ఫ్రెంచ్‌ సైనికుల సంఖ్య 87కి పెరిగింది. కపిసలోనే నలుగురు ఫ్రెంచ్‌ సైనికులను ఇంతకుముందు జనవరిలో తాలిబాన్లు హత్య చేసినప్పుడు తమ దేశ బలగాలను 2013 నాటికి ఆప్ఘనిస్తాన్‌ నుంచి ఉపసంహరిస్తామని అప్పటి ఫ్రాన్స్‌ అధ్యక్షుడు నికోలస్‌ సర్కోజీ ప్రకటించారు. గత నెలలో కొత్తగా ఎన్నికైన అధ్యక్షుడు ఫ్రాంకోయిస్‌ హోలాండే తాను ఇచ్చిన ఎన్నికల హామీని నెరవేర్చుతూ ఈ ఏడాది చివరకే బలగాలను ఆప్ఘన్‌ నుంచి ఉ పసంహరిస్తానని ప్రకటించారు.
