ఉప పోరుకు సర్వం సిద్ధం

హైదరాబాద్‌ : రేపు రాష్ట్రంలో 18 అసెంబ్లీ స్థానాలకు, నెల్లూరు ఎంపీ స్థానానికి జరిగే ఉప ఎన్నికల కోసం సర్వం సిద్ధమైంది. ఉప ఎన్నికల సమరంలో 46లక్షల 13వేల 589 మంది ఓటేయనున్నారు. ఇందులో 22లక్షల 79వేల 739 మంది పురుష ఓటర్లు ఉండగా, 23లక్షల 33వేల 844 మంది మహిళా ఓటర్లు ఉన్నారు. 13 మంది హిజ్రాలు కూడా ఈ ఉప ఎన్నికల్లో తమ ఓటు హక్కును వినియోగించుకోనున్నారు. ఉప ఎన్నికల కోసం 5,413 పోలింగ్‌ కేంద్రాలను ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.ఉప ఎన్నికల కోసం 50వేల మంది సిబ్బంది పని చేయనున్నారు. రేపు ఉదయం 8 గంటల నుంచి సాయంత్రం 5 గంటల వరకు పోలింగ్‌ జరగనుంది. ఇందు కోసం 6,266 బ్యాలెట్‌ మిషన్లను సిద్ధం చేశారు. గట్టి పోలీసు బందోబస్తు ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. 550 రూట్లలో పోలీసు మొబైల్‌ వ్యాన్లు తిరగనున్నాయి. 66మంది ఈసీఐఎల్‌ సంస్థకు చెందిన సాంకేతిక నిపుణులు పోలింగ్‌లో సహాయపడనున్నారు. ఉప ఎన్నికలు జరిగే ప్రాంతాల్లో ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగులకు వేతనంతో కూడిన సెలవు ఇచ్చారు.

18 అసెంబ్లీ స్థానాల్లో 255 మంది అభ్యర్థులు పోటీ చేస్తున్నారు. నెల్లూరు ఎంపీ స్థానానికి 13 మంది పోటీ పడుతున్నారు. పరకాల-16, నరసన్నపేట-6, పాయకరావుపేట-9, రామచంద్రాపురం-16, నరసాపురం-9, పోలవరం-6,ప్రతిపాడు-11, మాచర్ల-13, ఒంగోలు-23, ఉదయగిరి-14, రాజంపేట-19, కోడూరు-16, రాయచోటి-16, ఆళ్లగడ్డ-16,ఎమ్మిగనూరు-12, రాయదుర్గం-9, అనంతపురం అర్బన్‌-12, తిరుపతి అసెంబ్లీ స్థానానికి 19 మంది అభ్యర్థులు పోటీ పడుతున్నారు. ఇప్పటి వరకు రూ.42 కోట్ల 52 లక్షల నగదును స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్నారు. రూ.12కోట్ల 72 లక్షల విలువైన ఆభరణాలను పట్టుకున్నారు. లక్షా 94 వేల లీటర్ల మద్యాన్ని కూడా పట్టుకున్నారు. ఇప్పటి వరకు 8మంది అభ్యర్థులకు ఎన్నికల కోడ్‌ ఉల్లంఘన నోటీసులు జారీ చేశారు.ఉప ఎన్నికల సందర్భంగా ఆరోపణలు ఎదుర్కొన్న విశాఖ అడిషనల్‌ ఎస్పీని బదిలీ చేశారు.

Heavy Pressure On Mega Family Hero

The mega family currently comprises of almost 90% of heroes amongst them. Moreover, the likes of Ram Charan and Pawan Kalyan running high with a wave of success have given them a new high. But this high is proving to be the biggest challenge for another mega family member.

He is none other than Allu Arjun. Well, it has been quite a while since Bunny has delivered a hit and though he has been trying real hard to do something different that has not been working at the box office. Now, he has pinned all his hopes on the film ‘Julaayi’ and is expecting him to relieve the load on his shoulders.

The fact that it has Trivikram Srinivas helming the project is a big plus and it must be said that Bunny has a higher range of energy levels in comparison with Charan or Pawan Kalyan. For now, the nervousness is reportedly on Bunny’s head and unless he can come up with something special, this pressure will not be relieved.

హెలికాప్టర్ ప్రమాదంలో కెన్యా కేబినెట్ మంత్రి మృతి

నైరోబి, జూన్ 10: కెన్యా అంతర్గత భద్రతా మంత్రి జార్జ్ సైటోటి ఆదివారం జరిగిన హెలికాప్టర్ ప్రమాదంలో మృతిచెందారు. ఈ ప్రమాదంలో ఆయనతోపాటు మరో ఐదుగురు చనిపోయారని కెన్యా ఉపాధ్యక్షులు కలొన్జో ముస్యోకా విలేఖరులకు తెలిపారు. ఈ సంఘటన పట్ల ముస్యోకా దిగ్భ్రాంతిని వ్యక్తంచేశారు. మృతుల్లో కెన్యా అంతర్గత భద్రతా సహాయమంత్రి జాషువా ఓర్వా ఒజోడె సైతం ఉన్నారన్నారు. ఇద్దరు పైలట్లు, మరో ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తిగత భద్రతా సిబ్బంది సైతం మృత్యువాత పడినట్లు వివరించారు. మరోవైపు ప్రమాదానికి గల కారణాలపై మాట్లాడేందుకు ముస్యోకా నిరాకరించగా, నైరోబి సమీపంలోని ఎన్గాంగ్ కొండల్లో భారత కాలమానం ప్రకారం ఉదయం 11 గంటలకు హెలికాప్టర్ ప్రమాదానికి గురైంది.
నైరోబిలోని విల్సన్ విమానాశ్రయం నుంచి బయలుదేరిన ఈ హెలికాప్టర్ కొద్దిసేపటికే ప్రమాదానికి గురైంది. ఇదిలావుంటే వచ్చే ఏడాది కెన్యా అధ్యక్ష ఎన్నికల్లో అభ్యర్థిగా పోటీచేయాల్సి ఉన్న సైటోటి.. గతంలో దేశ ఉపాధ్యక్షుడిగా దీర్ఘకాల సేవలను అందించారు. తీవ్రవాద ప్రాబల్యం అధికంగా ఉన్న కెన్యాలో భద్రతాపరమైన చర్యలను చేపట్టడంలో సైటోటి కీలకపాత్ర వహించారు. ముఖ్యంగా పొరుగుదేశం సోమాలియా నుంచి ఉగ్రవాద సంస్థ అల్‌ఖైదాతో సంబంధాలు నెరపుతూ దాడులు చేస్తున్న షెబాబ్ తిరుగుబాటుదారులను అణచివేయడంలో సైటోటి ప్రధానపాత్ర పోషించారు.

జూలై 9నుంచి ఈ కొత్త నిబంధనలు అమలులోకి వస్తాయని బ్రిటీష్ ప్రభుత్వం ప్రభుత్వం ప్రకటించింది. ఐరోపా సమాజం వెలుపలి దేశాలనుంచి వలసలను నిరోధించడానికి కామెరాన్ ప్రభుత్వం ఇటీవలి కాలంలో అనేక చర్యలు తీసుకున్న విషయం తెలిసిందే. బోగస్ పెళ్లిళ్లు, కుటుంబ వీసాలను నిరోధించే ఉద్దేశంతోనే ఈ కొత్త ఆంక్షలను విధించినట్లు విదేశాంగ మంత్రి తెరెసా మే చెప్పారు.

వై.ఎస్.ఆర్.కాంగ్రెస్ అధ్యక్షుడు జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి సోదరి షర్మిల ఆసక్తికరమైన ప్రసంగం చేశారు. తిరుపతిలో ఆమె ప్రజలను ఉద్దేశించి మాట్లాడుతూ వై.ఎస్.రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి దివంగతుడయ్యాక ఎవరు సంతకాల సేకరణ చేసిందన్న విషయంపై జగన్ క్యాంప్ నుంచి తొలిసారిగా మాట్లాడారు.ఇంతవరకు జగనే సంతకాల సేకరణ చేయించారని,శవ రాజకీయ చేశారని ప్రత్యర్ధులు విమర్శలు చేస్తుంటారు.షర్మిలా ఆ విమర్శలకు సమాధానంగా అప్పట్లో జగన్ ను ముఖ్యమంత్రిని చేయాలంటూ సంతకాల సేకరణ చేయించింది కేంద్ర మంత్రి, పార్టీ వ్యవహారాల ఇన్‌ చార్జీగా అప్పట్లో ఉన్న వీరప్ప మొయిలీ అని ఆమె వెల్లడించారు. వారిద్దరే కాకుండా వై.ఎస్.కుటుంబానికి సన్నిహితంగా ఉండే మరికొందరు కూడా ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో పాల్గొన్నారు. షర్మిలా చెప్పినదానిలో నిజం లేకపోలేదు. అయితే అప్పుడు ఆ సంతకాల సేకరణ కార్యక్రమాన్ని వీరు అడ్డుకుని ఉండి ఉంటే బాగుండేది. కాని అప్పట్లో కీలక పాత్ర పోషిస్తున్న ఇద్దరు ప్రముఖులు కెవిపికాని, వీరప్ప మొయిలీ కాని దానిని నిర్వహించినందున ఎవరూ అడ్డుపడే అవకాశం ఉండదు. సంతకాల సేకరణతో అధిష్టానం జగన్ కు అనుకూలంగా వ్యవహరిస్తుందని వారు భావించి ఉంటారు.కాని సోనియాగాంధీ మరో రకంగా నిర్ణయం తీసుకుని ఆ వ్యవహరానికి కొత్త మలుపు సృష్టించారు. ఆ తర్వాత ఎన్నో పరిణామాలు జరిగాయి.

బాలకృష్ణ ప్రత్యేక పాత్ర పోషిస్తున్న చిత్రం 'ఊ కొడతారా ఉలిక్కిపడతారా'. మంచు మనోజ్ హీరోగా చేస్తున్న ఈ చిత్రంలో బాలకృష్ణ ఆత్మగా కనపడతారని ఫిల్మ్ సర్కిల్స్ లో గత కొన్ని రోజులుగా వినిపిస్తున్న సంగతి తెలిసిందే. గాంధర్వ మహల్లోకి హీరో మనోజ్ ప్రవేశించాక కథ మొదలవుతుందని, అక్కడ బాలకృష్ణ ఆత్మ కలుస్తుందని, హర్రర్, కామెడీ కలగలిసే ఈ సన్నివేశాల్లో బాలకృష్ణ ప్లాష్ బ్యాక్ విన్న హీరో ఆయన ఆశయం తీర్చటమే సినిమా ముఖ్య కథాంశం అని తెలుస్తోంది. మనోజ్ సరసన దీక్షాసేథ్ నటిస్తోంది.

శేఖర్ రాజా దర్శకత్వం వహిస్తున్న ఈచిత్రం విడుదల తేదీ ఖారారైంది. జూన్ 22వ తేదీన చిత్రాన్ని విడుదల చేసేందుకు సన్నాహాలు చేస్తున్నారు. ఈ మేరకు నిర్మాత మంచు లక్ష్మి ఇందుకు సంబంధించిన ఏర్పాట్లు చకచకా పూర్తి చేస్తోంది. బాలయ్యకు ఉన్న ఫ్యాన్ ఫాలోయింగ్ దృష్ట్యా భారీగా థియేటర్లను దక్కించుకుని ఓపెనింగ్స్ రాబట్టేందుకు ప్లాన్ చేస్తున్నారు.

ఈ చిత్రానికి సంబంధించిన రూ. 6.5 కోట్లతో గాంధర్వ మహల్ సెట్టింగ్ వేయడం ఇప్పుడు పరిశ్రమ వర్గాలను షాక్ కు గురి చేస్తోంది. లక్ష్మి అంత ఖర్చు పెట్టి సెట్ వేసి సాహసం చేస్తుండటం అందరినీ షాక్ కు గురి చేస్తోంది. అయితే బాలయ్య క్యారెక్టర్ గురించే ఆ సెట్ వేశారట. ఇందులో ఆయన జమిందార్ పాత్రలో కనిపించబోతున్నారు.

అయితే మంచు లక్ష్మి నమ్మకం అంతా సినిమా కథ, స్ర్కిప్టుపైనే నంట. అందులో అంత దమ్ముంది కాబట్టే ఖర్చుకు వెనకాడటం లేదంటున్నారు. అదే విధంగా బాలయ్య ఇమేజ్ ఈ చిత్రాన్ని ఓ రేంజికి తీసుకెలుతుందని భావిస్తుందట. బాలకృష్ణ, ప్రభు, మనోజ్, దీక్షాసేథ్, లక్ష్మీ ప్రసన్న, సోనూసూద్ తదితరులు ముఖ్య పాత్రలు పోషించిన ఈచిత్రాన్ని మంచు లక్ష్మి ప్రసన్న మంచు ఎంటర్ టైన్మెంట్ బ్యానర్ పై నిర్మిస్తోంది. ఈ చితానికి కథ, స్ర్కీన్ ప్లే, దర్శకత్వం శేఖర్ రాజ. బెబో శశి సంగీతం అందిస్తున్నారు. బి. రాజశేఖర్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫర్ గా పని చేస్తున్నారు.

ఎన్నికల్లో డబ్బు పంపిణీని నిరోధించేందుకు చర్యలు: సంపత్

ఎన్నికల్లో డబ్బు పంపిణీని నిరోధించేందుకు తగిన చర్యలు తీసుకుంటానని కేంద్ర ఎన్నికల సంఘం ప్రధానాధికారిగా సోమవారం బాధ్యతలు స్వీకరించిన వీరవల్లి సుందరం సంపత్ తెలిపారు. ఎన్నికల సంస్కరణలే ప్రధాన ఎజెండాగా పనిచేస్తూ., నేరచరితులను ఎన్నికల్లో పోటీ చేయకుండా చూసేందుకు కృషి చేస్తానన్నారు.

ఆరేళ్లుగా ఈ పదవిలో కొనసాగుతున్న ఖురేషి పదవీ కాలం ఆదివారంతో ముగియడంతో సంపత్ సోమవారం 18వ కేంద్ర ఎన్నికల ప్రధానాధికారిగా ప్రమాణ స్వీకారం చేశారు. రాష్ట్రపతి ఎన్నికల తేదీని త్వరలో ప్రకటిస్తామన్నారు.

గత 1950వ సంవత్సరం జనవరి 16వ తేదీన పుట్టిన సంపత్ 1973వ సంవత్సరం ఐఏఎస్ అధికారిగా ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వ పనులను నిర్వర్తించారు. అనంతరం గత 2009వ సంవత్సరం ఏప్రిల్ 12వ తేదీ ఎన్నికల కమిషనర్లలో ఒకరిగా సంపత్ నియామకం అయ్యారు.

ప్రస్తుతం 18వ ఎన్నికల సంఘం ప్రధానాధికారిగా బాధ్యతలు స్వీకరించిన సంపత్ మూడేళ్ల పాటు 2015 జనవరి వరకు బాధ్యతలు నిర్వర్తిస్తారు. ఇకపోతే 2014లో జరుగనున్న పార్లమెంట్ ఎన్నికలతో పాటు 17 రాష్ట్రాల సాధారణ ఎన్నికలు సంపత్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో జరుగనున్నాయి.

ఎన్నికల ముందు కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ మరో అస్త్రాన్ని ప్రయోగించింది. ఖమ్మం జిల్లా బయ్యారం ప్రాంతంలో మైనింగ్, పరిశోధన నిమిత్తం ఇచ్చిన రక్షణ స్టీల్స్ కు ఇచ్చిన ఒప్పందాన్ని రద్దు చేయాలని రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం నిర్ణయించింది. ఈ మేరకు ఎపి ఖనిజాభివృద్ది సంస్థకు ప్రభుత్వం ఆదేశాలు పంపింది. నిజానికి గతంలోనే ఈ ఒప్పందాన్ని రద్దు చేస్తున్నట్లు ప్రభుత్వం ప్రకటించింది. అయితే సరిగ్గా ఉప ఎన్నికలకు ఒక రోజు ముందు ఒప్పందాన్ని రద్దు చేసినట్లు ప్రకటన విడుదల చేయడం వ్యూహాత్మకమే కావచ్చు. దీని ద్వారా ప్రజలకు వై.ఎస్.కుటుంబానికి చెందిన వారి అవకతవకలను రద్దు చేశామని చెప్పడానికి ఒక ప్రయత్నంగా కనిపిస్తుంది. కాగా ఇది వై.ఎస్.అల్లుడు బ్రదర్ అనీల్ కు సంబందించిందన్న ప్రచారం ఉంది. కాని అనీల్ మాత్రం దీనిని ఖండిస్తున్నారు. అయితే నిజానికి బయ్యారం ప్రాంతంలో దొరికే ఇనుప ఖనిజం నాసి రకమైనదని అంటారు. దీనిని పెద్ద వివాదంగా మార్చడంలో రాజకీయ పార్టీలు కృతకృత్యమయ్యాయి. నిజానికి రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం మరో రెండు రోజుల తర్వాత అయినా ఈ ప్రకటన చేయవచ్చు. కాని ఉప ఎన్నికల నేపద్యంలోనే దీనిని ప్రచారంలో పెట్టాలని భావిస్తున్నారు. అయితే ఇందులో ఏదైనా తప్పు ఉంటే తప్పకుండా రద్దు చేయాల్సిందే. కాని ప్రతిదానిని రద్దు చేసుకుంటూ పోయినా, పారిశ్రామికవేత్తలను జైలుకు పంపినా అది రాష్ట్రానికి సంబందించినంతవరకు తప్పుడు సంకేతం పంపుతుంది. దురదృష్టవశాత్తు మన రాష్ట్రంతో కాంగ్రెస్ హై కమాండ్ తన ఇష్టం వచ్చినట్లు చెలగాటమాడుతోంది.

Jagan returned to jail in bulletproof Scorpio

Hyderabad : On the directions of the court, CBI has hurriedly brought bulletproof Scorpio vehicle and shifted the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to the Chanchalguda jail after the court has extended his judicial remand till June 25.Jagan was brought to the court in an ordinary van (mini bus) which the police generally use to bring pickpockets and petty thieves. After Jagan strongly protested against this treatment despite his being a MP and president of a party, CBI judge has issued notices to the agency to explain by June 14 the reasons for not being able to provide a decent vehicle to him.

Earlier the court has permitted Jagan’s mother Vijayamma, wife Bharati and sister Sharmila to talk with him for half-an-hour in privacy.Several relatives have also come to the court to have a look at Jagan as they were not permitted anywhere near him after he was arrested. Some were seen shedding tears emotionally upset, at seeing him bring brought like a criminal to court. Jagan has also asked the CBI judge to provide him ‘Z’ category security.

Jagan’s lawyers have earlier explained to the media that Jagan was hitherto not allowed to speak to any one. When he was produced in the court, he had got an opportunity to tell his problems to the judge and he has utilized that opportunity. He has denied that it was an angry outburst by Jagan. Apart from Jagan, IAS officer and former vice chairman of VUDA Venkata Rami Reddy, Arabindo director Nityananda Reddy, Hetero Director Sarat ChandraReddy, Ramki chairman Ayodhya Rami Reddy and former IAS officer B P Acharya were also produced in the court on Monday.

“Many of my fans have websites dedicated only to my music. It is time I had my own through which youngsters could learn my music and I could learn from them,” says the legend with humility. His three children, who are also into film music, would also get engaged in this task.

CBI Wants To Do Narco Test On Jagan!

As if it is not enough to humiliate YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy by taking him to the court from Chanchalguda jail in an ordinary police van like a criminal, the Central Bureau of Investigation has rubbed salt on the wound of the Kadapa MP by seeking to conduct a narco-analysis test on him.

The CBI filed a petition in the CBI special court on Monday asking for the court permission to conduct a narco-analysis test on Jagan to force him cough up the facts in connection with his alleged illegal assets case. The CBI authorities argued that Jagan had not divulged any information during the interrogation when he was in their custody for seven days.

“We have several leads in the case and when we questioned him, he could not give satisfactory replies. Therefore, we have to conduct narco-analysis test on him so that he would disclose the facts,” the CBI officials said.

However, it is doubtful whether the CBI court would give permission to the agency to conduct the narco-analysis test on Jagan. In February last, the CBI made a similar plea to conduct the test on V Vijay Sai Reddy, the close aide of Jagan and accused no. 2 in the Jagan’s illegal assets case.

However, the special court rejected the petition on the ground that the narco analysis test amounts to infringement of his fundamental right and secondly, it had dangerous consequences if not used properly. Thirdly, the CBI cannot conduct the tests without his consent. And fourthly, the narco test result will not be used as evidence in the court of law.

Middle-class youth addicted to affordable drugs

Middle class hooked to affordable Ecstasy

LSD and MDMA (Ecstasy) which come cheaper than cocaine have made drug abuse a rampant issue even among middle-class youngsters in the city

Saturday night's rave party in Banjara Hills, which was busted by city cops has exposed a new, disturbing trend that has the city in its clutch — MDMA and LSD addiction! The private bash organised in an apartment on Road Number 10, Banjara Hills, that saw the arrest of two girls, two guys and an Ugandan peddlerDonald, was attended by a small, exclusive group of around 15 friends, most of whom arehabitual drug abusers. The cops seized around 14 grams of cocaine, 10 packets of cube LSD, 10 small pills of micro LSD, five grams of MDMA drug and four LSD dots.

Tripping gets cheaper for the middle class

After the crackdown on the city's cocaine nexus curbed the supply of the potent drug in the party circles, the cheaper MDMA and LSD have become the dope in demand among the city's druggies. And it's not just youngsters from the elite circles of the city who are hooked to drugsanymore. The affordable MDMA and LSD have become the drugs of choice among the middle class too. Anurag Sharma, Commissioner of Police, says, "The city trend is now that youngsters are taking to MDMA and LSD. MDMA in the original state is white crystalline powder and is called Ecstasy when sold as pills. Because it's more affordable when compared to coke, it has caught the fancy of youngsters from all social strata. Earlier, only the city's upper class was into drugs, but now the growing trend is that even youngsters from middle class families have become habitual drug abusers."

These two drugs have become a hot choice among drug peddlers too. "Because of the high demand for both these drugs, the peddlers are also stocking up on them for trade," he adds. Plus, with the cops cracking down hard on the city's coke nexus, MDMA and LSD have become popular alternatives — they are not only cheaper, but also give druggies a strong high.

Longer, stronger high

The cost factor is what has the city's youngsters hooked to MDMA and LSD. The CP reveals, "While cocaine costs `4,500 per gram, a microdot LSD costs just around `1,500. This variant is much more potent than regular LSD and the trip lasts for 20 hours straight. Consumption of regular LSD leaves druggies in a trance-like state for three to five hours and each cube consists of 30 mg to 50 mg of the liquid. MDMA costs `3,000 per gram. It is either swallowed as a pill (Ecstasy) or used to spike drinks. Considering they are more affordable in comparison to cocaine, these two drugs are in demand now." A combination of MDMA and LSD is very lethal and can knock one out.

Homes, the new drug addas

The latest hotspots for rave parties in the city are not nightclubs anymore, but farmhouses and homes. Anurag Sharma says, "Since we are keeping a close watch on nightclubs, the drug scene has shifted to these farmhouses and private residences. In fact, strangely, statistics have shown that a lot of young couples in live-in relationships have taken to these drugs."

Throwing light on the city's drug scene, a DJ on condition of anonymity, tells us, "MDMA is popular among some of the city's P3 circles, including the real-estate and infrastructure companies' young heirs, whose parties are the toast of the town. The guy who supplies it to these folks is also a known and popular party regular. At Saturday's party, there were more than just the five who were arrested at the rave bash... the big fish fled the scene and have gone underground now."

In an interview with ET Now, Nandan Chakraborty, MD-Institutional Equity Research, Enam Securities, gives his views on their latest strategy report. Excerpts:

ET Now: Let us start the interview with your strategy report dated 4th of June, titled 'Surviving this austerity'. I read the strategy report over the weekend and I am bit surprised that the first page of the report is not about analysis, it is about poetry?

Nandan Chakraborty: There are times one has to learn from the lessons from the past to see what sorts of mistakes have been made in the past and therefore what do you learn from them. History obviously does not repeat itself at times. So first part of the entire strategy report is what you learnt from phases like that given the past. But one of the key lessons is that we have had much worse times before. So this is not necessarily the worst time that we are having and this too shall pass. We have had horrible periods.

I remember many of these periods in the past when people felt like getting out of India, and so on. This is definitely not the worst time we have and things unravel from a vicious cycle into a virtual cycle often enough in various decades. So one of the points was the rupee, CAD, that is the current account deficit, and the fiscal deficit, all move badly at a particular period of time. Things go bad and all again recover. As a matter of fact, our own estimate for the rupee is that it will be in the low 50s by the end of this financial year. So this is one of the lessons.

ET Now: So what are the key triggers that will make us actually way through this storm?

Nandan Chakraborty: One is external, one is internal. The nature of the democracy and the institutions that we have is that we will not accumulate too much money at a single level like dictators do and so on. So the ire will usually be against the system rather than personality and which is why you will always have media like yourself. It is a very important part of places like us which will collate the thoughts of the democracy and put it forward to politicians. So sooner or later what will happen, the self correcting mechanisms will keep starting. So, one trigger is internal.

Politicians also need various segments of voters to be able to move forward. So that is the internal part of it and the external part of it is even though our GDP growth has been low and things are getting worse and so on, at the end of the day we worry about the next few years. So things will unravel at a point in time and when that happens, things will again come to a pass.

Search warrant against Nityananda for his arrest: CM Sadananda Gowda

BANGALORE: Police on Monday issued a search warrant for the arrest of controversial godman Nityananda, who is reportedly absconding from his ashram at Bidadi in Ramanagara distict.

Chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda told reporters after a high-level meeting with top police officials, including DGP Lalrokhuma Pachau, to discuss the clash that took place between the media and his followers at his ashram last week, that Nityananda would be arrested in two days.

He said he has directed regional commissioner Shambhu Dayal Meena to submit a report to the government on the incident and also asked the DC and the superintendent of police to secure custody of the Dhyanapeetham premises, collect evidence about its activities and seal the ashram.

The government would hold discussions with the law department to seek cancellation of bail of the self-styled godman, who was granted bail by the Karnataka high court in connection with a case of rape and criminal intimidation.

Nityananda is facing criminal charges, including rape, on complaints from some former disciples last year. He was arrested and later released on bail.

On June 8 police had lodged criminal cases against him and his followers for allegedly assaulting a mediaperson during a press conference at his Ashram.

The FIRs were filed on complaints from a regional TV channel reporter and activists of Nava Nirmana Sene in connection with an altercation at the ashram the previous night.

On a counter complaint by two followers of Nityananda, police also registered two FIRs against the reporter and Sene activists for alleged outrage of modesty, physical assault and threat to life.

The reporter alleged he was assaulted and threatened after he asked a question at a press meet convened by the godman in the backdrop of charges of sexual abuse levelled against him by a US-based woman.

Jaganmohan Reddy says government humiliating him, threatens to go on fast

Jagan's judicial custody extended till June 25

HYDERABAD: High drama unfolded at theCentral Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Nampally on Monday morning when YSR Congress party president and Kadapaparliamentarian Jaganmohan Reddy was produced before principal special judge A Pullaiah who remanded him to 14-day judicial custody till June 25.

Appearing before the judge, Jagan said the jail authorities deliberately humiliated him by bringing him to the court in a van meant for transporting regular criminals, in utter disregard to his status as a special class prisoner and an MP.

Jagan also charged that the jail authorities were deliberately not allowing him to meet his family members including his wife and threatened to go on a fast unto death if the jail officials persist with the same attitude. The judge then directed the CBI to find out from the jail authorities as to what the situation was and asked Jagan to submit a written complaint. After he was remanded to judicial custody till June 25, the authorities transported him back in a bullet proof vehicle to Chanchalguda Jail.

In his complaint, Jagan charged the state government with unlawful and vengeful conduct. "Today, when I was required to be produced before the honourable court only with an intention to carry out a political vendetta and to humiliate me, I was deliberately brought in a van used for transporting regular criminals without regard to my status as a special class prisoner and disregarding my status as an MP enjoying Z category security. My security was seriously compromised and contrary to how the other remanded accused have been produced before this honourable court earlier, I was made to come in the van as was not in the case of A2 and others," he said.

"It is only out of respect for this honourable court and it is only with an intention to appear before on the date given I did not protest or refuse to come in the van though I was aware of the mischief and vendetta being exhibited by the government and authorities," Jagan said in his complaint.

DGP V Dinesh Reddy washed his hands off the matter, saying that since Jagan was under Z security and in judicial custody, it was the responsibility of the jail authorities to provide him with the appropriate vehicle and security.

In the trial court, the CBI filed a petition seeking permission to subject Jagan to a narco analysis test on the grounds that he was not cooperating with them in the investigation. In response, the judge directed Jagan's counsel to file a counter and posted the matter for hearing on June 14.

On Monday, all the accused in the Jagan assets case named in the first, second and third charge sheets including IAS officer Venkatrami Reddy in the Vanpic case appeared before the CBI court and were remanded to further custody.

The Vanpic project deals with the allocation of 28,000 acres of land by the YSR government after acquiring the land from farmers at a cheap rate to promoter Nimmagadda Prasad at concessional rates and the CBI's case is that Prasad in a quid pro quo arrangement, invested crores of rupees in Sakshi newspaper and TV owned by Jagan.

Rafael Nadal beats Novak Djokovic to win record seventh French Open title

PARIS: Rafael Nadal clinched a record seventhFrench Open title on Monday, defeating world number one Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 and shattering the Serb's dream of Grand Slam history.

In a fractious final pushed into a third week for only the second time because of Sunday's rain, the Spanish world number two, playing in his 16th Grand Slam final, also took his Paris record to a staggering 52 wins against just one loss.

Victory, which was achieved on a Djokovic double fault, allowed him to break the tie for six French Opens he shared with Bjorn Borg.

It was the 26-year-old's 11th Grand Slam title, taking him one behind Roy Emerson, three offPete Sampras and five away from the record of 16 held by Roger Federer.

For five-time major winner Djokovic, the Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open champion, it was the end of his dream of emulating Don Budge (1938) and Rod Laver (1962 and 1969) by holding all the Grand Slams at once.

He was left to regret his unforced error count of 53 which undermined his challenge.

After Sunday's suspension, the players, meeting in a fourth successive Grand Slam final, resumed with Nadal leading 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 1-2, but with Djokovic in the ascendancy and serving for a 3-1 lead in the fourth set.

But a forehand error from Djokovic, with the court at his mercy, gave Nadal a break point and the Spaniard seized it when the Serb had been left flat-footed by a net cord which allowed his opponent to push through a winner.

The set remained tight as would be expected with the pair meeting for a 33rd time.

Nadal moved to 5-4 as the umbrellas went up all around Philippe Chatrier Court and the players sat courtside to wait out a passing, heavy shower and complained to tournament referee Stefan Fransen about the slippery conditions.

Djokovic finally buckled when a monster forehand from Nadal set up championship point which he converted when the top seed tamely served up a fourth double fault.

The celebrations were ecstatic as Nadal fell to his knees and consoled Djokovic before the champion climbed into the player's box to embrace his family.

On Sunday, Djokovic had looked down and out at one stage, even picking up a warning for destroying his courtside chair box with his racquet.

After slipping two sets down, he was also a break behind at 0-2 in the third before he reeled off eight games in succession to take the third set -- the first lost by Nadal in this year's event -- and lead 2-0 in the fourth.

The first game of the fourth set had featured a gruelling 44-shot rally.

But Nadal had raged at tournament referee Stefan Fransen for having to keep playing as the court became increasingly treacherous.

As he stormed, Djokovic, who had been two sets to love down to Andreas Seppi in the fourth round, and saved four match points in his quarter-final victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, seized his chance to get back into the match.

The last time a French Open men's final failed to be completed on the last Sunday was 1973 when it was played on the Tuesday with Ilie Nastase beating Niki Pilic.

Monday finishes have become common at the US Open in New York with the last four finals taking place on the extra day while the 2001 Wimbledon final was also completed on a Monday.

Roland Garros will eventually avoid late finishes as a main court with a retractable roof is to be built in 2017
