Balayya's Fund Raising event for Cancer Hospital in PA


Popular Telugu Film Hero Mr.Nandamuri Bala Krishna received grand welcome and warm reception from Philadelphia Telugu Community when he arrived to participate in Fund Raising event at   Chateau Granieri Banquet Hall, Norristown, PA to support Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital. He came with a noble cause to increase awareness and to request greater participation from the NRI Community to help in eradicating cancer. Telugu NRIs and BalaKrishna fans participated in large numbers to support the cause......

There was electrifying atmosphere at the Venue. Mr.Nandamuri BalaKrishna received rousing reception from fans with fireworks and flower petals were showered on him. TAGDV President, Mr. Ravi Potluri welcomed the guests and the event started off with American and Indian national Anthems, followed by lighting of lamp by the chief guest, Mr.Nandamuri Balakrishna. NATS Joint Secretary Mr.Mohana Krishna Mannava gave introductory speech, provided a glimpse of highlights in NBK's film career and briefed the service initiatives of the Cancer hospital.  
Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital Trustees Dr. Raghava Rao Polavarapu and Dr.Tulasi Polavarapu attended this event. Dr.Tulasi Polavarapu, who played an instrumental role in the establishment of this hospital explained in detail hospital's progress over the years. NATS Director Mr.Sreedhar Appasani introduced Mr.Nandamuri Bala Krishna and his speech drew amazing response with whistles and cheers from largely attended BalaKrishna fans.
Later, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital, Mr.Nandamuri Bala Krishna spoke at length, thanking the attendees, praised NRIs for their hard work and for reaching out to greater heights on a foreign soil. He spoke about his mother Smt. Basvatharakam’s struggle with cancer, lack of proper treatment in India and her demise. Balayya explained how his Legendary father, Sri. Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao initiated the effort to launch this Cancer hospital as a Non Profit Organization with help from various doctors and sponsors. He listed out various services provided by the hospital.
Mr.BalaKrishna explained in great detail the progress of hospital right from its inception, mentioned the status of the ongoing initiatives and upgrades to the facilities and equipment in the hospital.  He listed out hospital's goals and the projects in the pipeline. He also explained how Basvatharakam Cancer Institute became first in the country to have both research and hospital facilities. Balakrishna mentioned how the Institute is conducting research to provide low cost medications to the poor. He also mentioned that they are planning to start satellite hospitals in other parts of the state like Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam, Nizamabad and Ananthapur. His inspiring and thoughtful speech drew tremendous response from the attendees and people actively stepped in and showered their support by donating in large numbers for the cause. He interacted with everyone and asked their input and feedback for the betterment of the hospital and to serve better. He appreciated the generous support by Telugu NRIs.
At the request of Balayya fans, Balayya enthralled the gathering with powerful dialogues from his various movies. After that, Balakrishna gave mementos to all the major donors that supported the event. Audience enjoyed great live music concert by singers Krishna and Rani. They entertained attendees by singing popular Telugu songs from various movies. Sri Lakshmi Kulkarni anchored the event. A documentary was played on Nandamuri BalaKrishna which received enormous response from the crowd. Telugu MAGIC TV provided live coverage of the event.
Telugu Association of Greater Delaware Valley supported this event and they richly felicitated Dr.Tulasi Polavarapu garu and Dr.Raghava Rao Polavarapu garu. TAGDV President - Ravi Potluri, Secretary - Harinath Bungatavula, Treasurer - Sambaih Kotapati, Joint Secretary - Suresh Reddy, Joint Treasurer - Vijayabhaskar Reddy and EC Members Anupama Donthineni, Kiran Kothapalli, Vijayasri Parchuri, Sreedhar Gudala felicitated Dr. Tulasi Polavarapu garu and Dr. Raghava Rao Polavarapu garu for their services to the Telugu community and cancer hospital.
Mr.Ravi Potluri and Mr.Mohana Krishna Mannava organized this event. Mr.Tagore Guthikonda is coordinating the Cancer hospital’s events across the country.
Mr.Nandamuri Bala Krishna actively mingled with everyone, signing autographs and took photos with everyone. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that almost all the attendees took pictures with Mr.Bala Krishna. He greeted the attendees and asked every individual regarding their where abouts and the audience were immensely satisfied with the warmth nature and affection of Mr.BalaKrishna.
There was overwhelming response from the local Telugu community and over 350 people attended the event. People generously donated for the noble cause and around 50,000 dollars were raised in the event.
