Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu is so desperate to come to power in the next elections in 2014 that he has making all sorts of announcements to woo different sections of people.......
On Saturday, the TDP president came out with a statement that his party would give 100 tickets to BCs in the next elections as part of encouraging these neglected sections. The list of candidates contesting the assembly elections would be announced a year in advance before the polls, he said.
He also announced that if the TDP comes to power, his government would create a separate budget for the BCs with an allocation of Rs 10,000 crore; it would also bring pressure on the Centre to enact legislation providing 33 per cent reservations for the BCs in all the legislative bodies – from the state assembly to parliament.
“The BCs have been the backbone of the TDP right from the beginning. And it has given a lot of importance to these sections. We are making all efforts to win back their confidence. ,” Naidu said.
The TDP president already sought to woo the youth by declaring that he would give 50 per cent of the tickets to the youth. He also decided to revive the agitation for categorization of SC reservations with a view to getting the support of Madigas, especially in the Telangana region.
