Three Mumbai-based 'sharp-shooters' sneak in Ajmer, cops on alert
AJMER: High alert was sounded in Ajmer after three suspected Mumbai-based sharp-shooters entered the city early on Wednesday.
Based on reports by Udiapur police which provided a taxi number, the name and mobile number of the driver in which the sharp-shooters were travelling, police here tried to locate them by triangulating the mobile phone but it turned out they were moving towards Jaipur around noon.....
Barricades were put up on national highway towards Jaipur but nothing came up. The presence of the sharp shooters in Rajasthan has also put the IB on alert.
According to police, their Udaipur counterparts informed the district headquarters that three sharp-shooters from Mumbai were traveling from Nathdwara to Ajmer in a taxi the driver of which is identified as Shyamlal. They also provided mobile number of Syamlal. "When we called the driver, he said he was going back to Nathdwara and we ordered him to come back to Ajmer," police said.
Police later interrogated Shyamlal and found that he took the three persons in his taxi from Nathdwara on Tuesday night and left them near the railway station as they wanted to go to the dargah. "I dropped them at a guest house of the dargah bazaar and they paid me the fare after which I was returning to Nathdwara," the driver said.
Shyamlal also said they had dinner in a dhaba near Bheem on Tuesday night and they had wanted to go to Surat in Gujarat the next day, "I have not seen any weapon or heard any suspicious talks among them," Shyamlal told police.
Police then went to the railway station to check on the three persons and also the guest house where the driver had dropped them. They found that a room was registered with a name of Firoz and copy of the identity card given to guest house showed him to be a resident of Mumbai. "The trio went inside the room but came out within an hour and checked out. They seem to have left for Jaipur. They had also provided a mobile during registration at the guest house. The number was activated in Kishangargh," police said.
Later, Kishangargh, Dudu and Jaipur police were informed about the suspected shooters moving towards the state capital. "We do not have any more information of these suspected shooter in the state," an official said.
Tension prevailed in the city when the news broke out and IB officials started gathering footage of CCTV cameras to identify people at the railway station. "We have nothing more to say but seeking more information from the taxi driver," police said.
