It may be noted that university registrar Manimukut Mitra and the principal of Patha Bhavan, Bodhwirupa Sinha, went to the house of the girl and urged the parents to send her back to the school. after five days of the incident. Later the registrar 'univocally regretted' the incident in a statement and appealed the parents to send back their daughter to Patha Bhavan. On Monday, a letter signed by Sinha was sent to the girl's father stating that she can attend Patha Bhavan as a day-scholar till July 31, by which time she would recover from the trauma. However, the university authority could not restore their confidence.
The girls' father met the headmistress of Bolpur Girls' High School, Pragya Paramita Bose, on Wednesday and handed over the application for admission. Though the girl has not yet sought a transfer certificate from Patha Bhavan, she was admitted to the same class in the new school.
The father said: "We had a bitter experience after the incident. Though the Visva Bharati authority had told us to send my daughter to Patha Bhavan, neither my daughter nor we could find any point to respond to their call. My daughter is not ready to go back to the school. Moreover, The Visva Bharati has allowed my daughter to attend Patha Bhavan as a day-scholar for a brief period. She will eventually have to return and stay in the same hostel.
It is not yet clear to us what the university wants to prove with their own probe committee. Keeping in mind all these we have decided not to send our daughter again to Patha Bhavan.
We are grateful to the education minister, SDO and others who helped us get my daughter admitted to this new school."
Pragya Paramita Bose, the headmistress of the new school, said, "It is an exceptional case, so she has been granted admission in the midst of the session. Our state education minister, himself, is concerned about the girl. I have been directed by the sub divisional officer, Bolpur, the chairman, district primary school council and the district inspector of education, to grant admission to this girl. On Wednesday, she has been admitted. I have told her father to send her to the school from Thursday, so that she can return back to a normal life soon. We will be happy if she can start normal schooling and find new fiends here. We will do our best to provide her with all required support."
As Wednesday was a holiday in Viswa Bharati, the principal of Patha Bhavan and the registrar were not available for comment. A university official said, "It is very unfortunate that the parents of the girl have decided to withdraw their daughter from our school. We have taken a number of steps to restore their confidence." Our registrar had univocally regretted the incident and the Principal herself wrote them to send back the girl.
We cannot force the parents to change their decision. We hope that the girl is able to adjust in the new school and wish her all the success."
The Kaberi girls hostel impasse reached a conclusion on Wednesday when father of the girl of class-V of Patha Bhavan , who was allegedly tortured and humiliated by a warden of the hostel, reached Bolpur Girls School and sought admission for his daughter. The girl was admitted in the same class by the school authority. The father - Monoj Mistry was told by the headmistress to send his daughter from Thursday to attend classes. It should be mentioned that though at initial stage the Visva Bharati university authority tried to shield the warden and lodged complaint with police against the parents of the girl they changed their stand immediately after being received 'strong instruction' from the PMO.
