Noted social activist Anna Hazare’s announcement that his team would launch a new political party to provide a powerful political alternative in the country has exposed his utter weakness and also his real ambitions.
However, many people fee that Anna Hazare’s plan to enter politics to clean up the system will boomerang on him. He is yet to realize the fact that the people would not take corruption as a serious political issue and what they want from parties are a few populist schemes with which they would be able to meet two square meals a day. Nobody has any faith in his Utopian world.
As a political observer commented, Anna would end up like another Jayaprakash Narayan of Lok Satta, who always talks about idealism which would never be implemented. Interestingly, JP wholeheartedly welcomed Anna Team’s plan to plunge into electoral politics.
“The battle for political change in this country has been a long and lonely one and while the Lok Satta has traveled some distance on this journey, many more miles remain to be covered. Anna can galvanize the participation of concerned and informed citizens in public life, and give progressive politics a powerful new momentum,” he said.
JP went a step ahead and made an offer to Anna that his party would have an alliance with Anna party so that they could work together.
“We can powerfully combine our efforts to build a great India,” he said.
