Samaikyandra Movement Kicks Up Again

With reports from New Delhi indicating that the Centre would soon take some decision on the contentious Telangana statehood issue, the Seemandhra leaders have stepped up their efforts to stall the Telangana process at any cost by reviving the movement.

Senior Congress leader from Guntur and former minister Gade Venkat Reddy has decided to organize a big meeting shortly at Bapatla in the name of celebration of 100 years of the foundation of Andhra Maha Sabha, which strived for the welfare of the Telugu people and fought for freedom of the country.
“The first meeting of the Andhra Maha Sabha was held on May 26, 1913. We are contemplating celebrating the 100 years of its foundation. The preparatory meeting for the event is going to be held shortly,” Venkat Reddy said.
He reminded that the Andhra Maha Sabha had comprised of leaders from Andhra and Telangana regions and they had resolved to fight for the unity of Telugu speaking people.
“We are going to invite to the meeting all those who are fighting for Samaikyandhra,” the former minister said.
