Senior actor and aspiring politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, who had a lengthy meeting with his brother-in-law and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday, appears to have been entrusted with the responsibility of bringing all the deserted party leaders back into the party fold.
As part of the strategy, Balakrishna had a meeting with Raavi Venkateshwara Rao, former MLA from Gudivada in Krishna district, on Monday. Balakrishna is learnt to have invited Raavi back into the party to strengthen the party in the constituency. He assured that the former MLA would be given due respect and key position in the party. Raavi told the media later that he would soon be joining the TDP.
Raavi, who had quit the party before 2004 elections after the party picked up Kodali Sri Venkateshwara Rao alias Naani as the candidate for Gudivada assembly seat at the request of Junior NTR. Now with Naani ditching the TDP and joining the YSR Congress party, the party desperately needs a strong leader and hence, Naidu sought Balakrishna’s help to Raavi back into the TDP.
The party president hopes that if Balakrishna takes the centre stage, more leaders would be returning to the party soon.
