Why Are Journalist Leaders Silent?

The journalist union leaders who shouted from the roof tops about stifling of freedom of press when the CBI froze the bank accounts of Sakshi daily and channel surprisingly remained silent when the same media house and YSR Congress party leaders were accusing the fellow media persons of conspiring to physically eliminate party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

The disclosure of phone numbers and names of the media persons on the crime beat talking to police officials and the CBI chief definitely amounts to infringement of the freedom of press. The crime reporters cried foul saying they have been receiving threatening calls from unknown persons for talking to CBI joint director V V Lakhsminarayana and carrying reports about the investigation into Jagan’s case.
Yet, there was not a single word from the so-called journalist union leaders, who had earlier led rallies and dharnas against the CBI and the Congress party in favour of Sakshi and its management. “This is totally unfair. It clearly shows that these leaders are hand in glove with YSR Congress party,” a journalist said.
