Guv In Delhi Amidst Rumours On Telangana

The frequent visits to New Delhi by Governor E S L Narasimhan these days has become a big talking point among the media circles, though most of the times such visits did not result in any significant developments.

Narasimhan will be leaving for New Delhi again on Monday. Though it is said that he was going to Delhi only to call on newly-elected President of India Pranab Mukherjee, there have been reports that the governor would brief the Centre about the growing tensions in the state on account of Telangana statehood demand again. As the Telangana protagonists are planning to revive the agitation all over again, the Seemandhra leaders have been strongly opposing the statehood demand. Narasimhan might put the record straight before the Centre.
There is also a talk that the Centre would take the report from the governor on the possible change of guard in the state. The Congress high command wants to have the Governor’s view on the performance of present chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and on whether there was any change in the people’s opinion on Kiran’s rule.
In any case, the Centre would not disclose the governor’s report, but it would definitely be a major input for any decision taken with regard to the state.
