It is more than a week since YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi and her daughter Sharmila had hit the streets to campaign for the party candidates in various constituencies going to by-polls on June 12. And both the mother and daughter seem to have overcome their initial tentative nature and mastered the art of attracting public with punch dialogues.
More than the mother, Sharmila has been using sharp and filmy dialogues to attract the crowds. Describing her brother Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as a lion who dared to take on the political bigwigs in the state, she said: “lion is always a lion, whether it is out in the jungles or in the cage.” And that phrase has gone down well with the audiences.
Sharmila alleged that the Congress party, which had come to power both in the centre and the state at the mercy of her father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was using the same power to harass his family.
“The CBI, which should be an independent investigating agency, has turned a pocket outfit of the Congress party,” she said, adding that nobody could tame a lion even in jail.
