The Telugu Entrepreneurs’ Association conducted a first of its kind “Launch Your Startup” Event at Addison, TX yesterday.
A total of 26 aspiring entrepreneurs and investors attended the event and there were a total of 40 people in attendance.
This is the first time an event of this nature has been conducted by the Indian Community to foster entrepreneurship.
After a brief introduction and a kick-off by Krishna Jonnakadla, General Secretary of TEA and the force behind this event, there were 16 pitches on a Saturday morning. After the pitches were made, 5 ideas were chosen by popular vote and the attendees formed teams to work on validating their idea and presenting their business plan to the judges. The teams were given 3 hours to discuss amongst themselves and present their business plan and idea to the judges at 4 PM. The best startup idea adjudication went to GeneClues which plans to help you carry your Genome in your pocket for analysis, the first and second runners-up were Real Source, a one-stop shop that will help individuals to create income from Real Estate and Birthday Portal, an online one-stop portal for Birthday parties.
All the teams won a free consultation and entity structuring session from Vish Palepu, CPA.
The judges who attended the event were Prabhakar Reddy of Naya Ventures, Krishna Reddy and Raj Akula of Akula Associates.
Sinu Pohar, President of TEA, Krishna Jonnakadla, General Secretary of TEA and TEA’s Executive Committee Members Suresh Vuluvala and Rama Devi Kasety pulled out all stops and worked tirelessly to make this event a grand success. TEA also wishes to thank Narendra Palavalli, an aspiring entrepreneur and Grad school student for volunteering as well as the owners of Azure Restaurant and Flavors Restaurant for their support in making this event a success.
TEA was setup with the goal of fostering entrepreneurship and helping Indian Americans in their quest for wealth creation.
