BCCI bans five cricketers for spot-fixing in Indian Premier League

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) meted out harsh punishments on Saturday to five cricketers — T P Sudhindra,Shalabh SrivastavaAmit Yadav, Mohnish Mishra and Abhinav Bali — who were caught in a TV sting operation..... in May agreeing to either spot-fix matches or bragging about receiving 'under-the-table' payments from franchisees and agreeing to move to other IPL teams for more money.

The punishment handed out to Sudhindra, aMadhya Pradesh cricketer who also plays for IPL team Deccan Chargers, is the harshest of them all.

The board has banned him for life which means he will not be allowed to play any cricket conducted by the BCCI, the International Cricket Council (ICC) or any of their affiliated units ever again.

"Sudhindra will also not be entitled to the monthly gratis, benevolent fund, benefit match or any other facility provided by the Indian cricket board," the BCCI said in a statement. "He cannot hold any position in any cricket association affiliated to the BCCI, for life."
