The visit of YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi to New Delhi along with her party MLAs, MPs and senior leaders on Tuesday has led to several speculations in the media circles....
While the official purpose of the visit of Vijayamma and others is claimed to be meeting Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and representing him on the harassment her son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy by the Central Bureau of Investigation in his alleged illegal assets case, there is a talk in the media that the YSR Congress party leaders might use the opportunity to open a channel of negotiations with the Congress bosses in Delhi with a compromise formula.
“It could even be a response to the feelers sent by the Congress leadership for a patch-up. There were speculations that MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi had mediated between the Congress and the YSR Congress in the past and the latest visit of Vijayamma could be part of the exercise. It might be a quid pro quo deal: YSR Congress party would support UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee’s candidature, while the Congress would ensure that Jagan would be out on bail,” sources said.
However, another section of the media rules out this possibility. “There is no possibility of Jagan agreeing for any sort of compromise with the Congress party at this stage. And it is too far fetched to assume that the Congress party would surrender to Jagan and dilute his case,” they say.
