Jagan asked court in writing not to give him bail

Hyderabad : Congress MPs Undavalli Arun Kumar and Lagadapati Rajagopal have alleged that the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has filed a memo in the court in his hand writing, asking it not to issue him interim bail for election campaign. While Undavalli spoke to the media in Hyderabad, Lagadapati spoke in Railway Koduru.Undavalli has said they have obtained a copy of Jagan’s memo in which he has appealed to the court not to issue him bail. He said looking at the response his mother Vijayamma was getting and the sympathy she was able to generate because of his arrest, Jagan felt it was better to be in jail.On Vijayamma expressing doubts about Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s death, Undavalli has questioned why she has not talked about it so far. He has alleged that she was trying to use this issue only to gain sympathy and electoral gain. Speaking to the media in Railway Koduru, Lagadapati has also made the same allegation.

Lagadapati who was made in charge of the Railway Koduru constituency, held Pada Yatra in the constituency on Wednesday. Talking to the media on the occasion, he said while Jagan has given to the court in writing that he did not want bail, his mother Vijayamma was politicizing the issue and stating that her son was put in jail to prevent him from campaigning. Both Lagadapati and Undavalli gave copies of Jagan’s letter to the media. They said that Jagan has clearly stated in the letter that he wanted only full scale bail and not interim bail for campaigning. However for public consumption Vijayamma was stating that her son was not given bail even to participate in the campaign. They said that by circulating pamphlets with the photo of Jagan in jail, they were trying to gain the sympathy of people.

Lagadapati has reiterated his demand that Vijayamma should swear on bible that the Rs. 850 crores Jagan has received as investment from Nimmagadda Prasad was not in return for favors he has received in a quid pro quo understanding. He has questioned why Vijayamma was silent on this issue and Jagan’s letter rejecting bail.Lagadapati has said that for getting into power, Jagan has accepted even bifurcation of the state. He has alleged that Jagan had a secret understanding with both the TRS and the BJP which were trying to divide the state. He has cautioned the Seemandhra voters to understand the designs of Jagan and reject him and his party in the ensuing by-elections.
