PUNE: Indian Mujahideen operative Qateel Siddiqui was murdered in the high security Anda cell at the Yerawada central jail in the morning on Friday.
Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) had recently arrested Siddiqui for making an attempt to plant a bomb at the famous Dagdusheth Ganapati temple in Pune on the day when the blast at German Bakery took place on February 13,2010.
Jail superintendent S V Khatavkar told the TOI that the incident took place at the high security Anda cell.
Siddiqui was strangled to death by two inmates identified as Sharad Mohol and Alok Bhalerao with a pajama string while he was to be escorted to New Delhi, following expiry of his custody in Pune.
