Salman Khan accused of buying flat at inflated price

MUMBAI: The Dabangg star is again in the eye of a storm: This time, former IPS officer and RTI activist YP Singh has accused actor Salman Khan of buying a residential property in Bandra (west) at a highly inflated price to cover up floor space index (FSI) violations .

The property registration papers show that the actor bought a flat at Rs 1,86,000 per square foot, which is about seven times more than the prevailing market rate in the area. Singh presented property registration andstamp duty papers on Thursday which show that Khan has bought a 1,079-square feet 11th floor flat in the building for Rs 20 crore, and has paid a stamp duty of Rs 1,64,20,100 on this purchase.

Singh alleged major FSI violations , saying, "A residential property of the same size is available in the surrounding area of Bandra for about Rs 3 crore, but why has Khan paid Rs 20 crore for it?"

"He did so because he has actually been given an apartment of about 8,000 square feet, out of which over 6,900 square feet area has been taken from the common FSI awarded to the housing society for parking , staircases and other facilities . This is a clear violation of BMC's FSI rules. The documents prove the violation, so action must be taken," he added.
